Onion Fair

Inter-county festival of folk song and dance from Țara Codrului, traditionally associated with the fair and local products. The oldest and largest artistic manifestation of the Codru area, attended by folk bands from the counties: Maramureș, Satu Mare and Sălaj. The event has a tradition of over a century, and the official form of the folk festival dates back to 1970. According to the archives of the Maramureș County Council, the fair was also known in the past as the "Onions and Girls Fair", being an important meeting place for the inhabitants of the villages in Țara Codrului.

Cultural Significance

One of the oldest traditional events of Țara Codrului.
