Sheep Ravaging
"Sheep Ravaging" is a 50-year-old event, completed more recently with the "Cheese and Pastrami Festival". The participants in the event have the opportunity to sing, dance and eat various dishes, to know the traditions and pastoral customs but also a real culinary feast with selected dishes such as: sheep pastrami, bulz, all kinds of cheeses and many other surprises prepared at the cauldron. Also on this occasion, folk craftsmen from all over the country exhibit their traditional objects: ceramics, folk costumes, fabrics, sculptures, etc.
Cultural Significance
The traditional event takes place in Bran, in the immediate vicinity of Bran Castle, marking the descent of the sheep herds from the mountains and the preparation for winter.🐏 We linger here for a few hours, during which we have the opportunity to visit Bran Castle which is across the street from the Festival. What you can experience at the festival: Gastronomic fairs: You can taste and buy traditional dishes, with an emphasis on area-specific cheeses and pastrami. Animal exhibitions: The event includes a livestock exhibition where the most beautiful specimens are awarded. Local traditions: You will find craftsmen, folk music and good cheer in the style specific to the Bran-Rucăr area.
